His second monologue No Song (Geen lied) won him both the Mary Dresselhuys prize 2000 en the Taalunie Playwright's prize 2000, and was also nominated for the Louis d'Or 2000, the most prestigious drama prize in The Netherlands. He held the Vincent van Gogh lecture 2000. He performed onstage as an actor in Holland, Flanders and Palestine and as a poet during festivals such as De Wintertuin, Crossing Border and Poetry International Rotterdam. In 2001 he read at both The Nights (De Nachten; held in Holland and Flanders) and the national Poetry Night (De Nacht van de Poëzie) in Utrecht. He was commissioned to write a short novel for the national Dutch Week of The Book (Boekenweek, 2001) , entitled Captain Birdbrain & The Two Cultures (Kapitein Zeiksnor & De Twee Culturen).
